Shetland & the Faroe Islands

[A colourful village in the Faroe Islands.]

The Faroe Islands - a beautiful and unspoilt group of 18 islands in the North Atlantic.

The Faroes are a beautiful and unspoilt group of 18 islands in the North Atlantic - an incredible destination and easy to combine with Shetland.

Sheer cliffs and rugged mountains contrast with green fields, tumbling waterfalls and brightly coloured houses in small villages. Long summer days make the islands a paradise for walking, hiking and birdwatching. Guided excursions available on foot or by coach or by boat will introduce you to the rich heritage of these islands.

Smyril Line sails from Lerwick on Wednesdays 1 June - 24 August (depart 01.30, arrive Tórshavn 15.00). You can stay for 5 nights and return the following Monday (depart 08.30, arrive Lerwick 21.00). There is also a return ferry on Fridays allowing a short 2 nights visit or a longer 9 nights holiday.

Before June and after August, sail from Lerwick on Sundays at 17.00 and arrive Tórshavn at 06.00 on Monday. Stay for 3 nights and depart Tórshavn on Thursday at 20.30 and arrive Lerwick at 08.30 Friday.

The Hotel Föroyar is located in a beautiful position with a panoramic view over Tórshavn and the isle of Nólsoy. 108 en-suite bedrooms, all with views, restaurant and bar. 4 stars.

Tórshavn is Europe's smallest capital city and the 18 islands and 48,000 people form one of the smallest nations in the world. From Tórshavn, there is easy access to all the islands, each of which is waiting to welcome visitors to its own little world.

It is easy to get to and around the other islands. There are modern roads and an efficient inter-island ferry service.

Your holiday includes
Return ferry crossings with your own car between Lerwick (Shetland) and Tórshavn (Faroes) with en-suite cabins each way and 5 nights bed & breakfast at the Hotel Foroyar.

Prices depend on the time of year you choose to travel and your choice of cabin on-board Smyril Line's Norrona - there are 2, 3 and 4 berth inside and outside cabins, all with WC/shower.
