The road less travelled from the Isle
of Skye through Morar, Moidart and Ardnamurchan to the Isles of
Mull & Iona.
You can start any day in either direction.
Longer or shorter stays possible.
DAYS 1-4 - Isle of Skye. Travel
over the Skye bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh for 4 nights at your choice of
Scotsell's friendly guest houses or hotels.
DAY 5 - the 'Road between the Isles'.
Join the ferry at 10.25 from Armadale across to Mallaig (26 minutes)*.
A spectacular day, passing by Morar and Arisaig, through Moidart and Acharacle,
to tranquil Ardnamurchan, where the only things that rush are the streams.
This secluded peninsula is home to otters, deer, wildcats, eagles and
seals. Continue to Kilchoan for the ferry ride (35 minutes) to Tobermory
on Mull*. Taking at least 2 hours on narrow roads, you will marvel at
just what the wilderness of this small area of Scotland offers.
DAY 5-8 - Isle of Mull. Enjoy four
nights at your hotel or guest house or split your time between two locations with two nights at each. Choose from The Tobermory Hotel in Tobermory in the north of the island, Ardachy House Hotel in southern Mull or the Isle of Mull Hotel at Craignure in the middle (or variations as preferred) (or guest houses), making it easier to visit the Island of Iona (passengers only, ferry cost not included).
DAY 9 - You leave Mull on
the ferry from Craignure (every 2 hours or so), which takes 45 minutes
to sail to Oban where this fascinating holiday ends.
