You can start any day in either direction.
DAYS 1-2 - Isle of Bute.
One highlight is the Victorian Gothic Mount Stuart House with fabulous
interiors and 300 acres of gardens. Other gardens at Ardencraig and Ascog
Hall Fernery. Bute's 'West Island Way' is a variety of pretty walks. Regular
sailings from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay take 35 minutes. Enjoy two (or more)
nights at Ardmory House Hotel with a' la carte dinner menu & bar meals.
DAY
3 - Cowal & Kintyre. A 5 minutes ferry from
Rhubodach carries you across the picturesque Kyles of Bute to Colintraive.
Breathtaking views await you on the 20 miles drive around Loch Ridden
to Portavadie for the 25 minutes ferry to Tarbert on the Kintyre
Peninsula. Continue to Tayinloan (18 miles) for the 20 minutes ferry
to Gigha. Your easy 'ferry hops' and short drives will reveal a
varied and beautiful scenery.
DAY
3-4 - Isle of Gigha. Explore the white sandy bays
and lochs on this community owned 'God's Island'. There is easy
walking, bike hire, 9 hole golf course, birds, wildlife, and wild
flowers. Home to the famous Achamore Gardens with rhododendrons,
azaleas and sub tropical plants. Spend two nights (or more) at the
Gigha Hotel.
DAY
5 - Return
to Kintyre after a relaxing island and peninsula hopping holiday!
